Meet the Artist and Designer: Avigael Tondowski of Avigael Creation
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.
My name is Avigael, I was born and grew up in Paris. I am a stylist and designer, who graduated from a Parisian Fashion school. After graduation, I flew to Israel where I reside since 2017.
I launched my brand three years ago, starting with the creation of hand painted silk scarves. Since then, my brand has evolved, and I also offer a variety of Judaica products.
What inspired you to become an artist?
Since I was little, I have always been drawn to the world of art and fashion. After visiting the Christian Lacroix “Fashion History” exhibition, it simply clicked. I knew I would work in this field. I wanted to combine fashion and art.
What is your specialty?
It is very hard to decide! I really like touching on different types of art and products. If I had to decide, I would say drawing is my true specialty; it is expressed through clothes with accessories, but also through Judaica products that I offer such as Challah covers, paintings to decorate the home, etc.
How and where do you work?
I work from my home in Jerusalem. The projects are based on demand, when I see that an article pleases my clients and it sells, I will work on several versions of it.
What is the most indispensable item in your studio?
My daily planner, where I write down all my projects, my orders and especially my schedule for each day.
Where do you take your inspiration? Are you pursuing any themes?
I spend a lot of time on Pinterest or Instagram to find inspiration. I have go-to themes that inspire me daily, such as Japan, flowers, the galaxy, and the colour blue! Many of these themes can be found in my work.
