Hand-painted silk scarves

Hand-painted silk scarves

My project started with hand-painted silk scarves and soon led me to this great experience I am living today. Even though it grew and diversified, scarves remain my flag-ship and favorite product.

I wished to offer Jewish women the ability to wear a piece of art, which would make them unique. This is indeed my essential goal as an artist, and Jewish woman keeping the laws of tzniut (modesty).

Contrary to drawing on paper, silk painting enables me to best express my creativity because of its very characteristics. Indeed, the process is always full of surprises and the “mistakes” cannot be made up but turn into new shapes and prints. They are my everyday challenges.

By wearing Avigael scarves, women testify their joy for head covering and their pride being beautiful Jewish women following the laws of tzniut (modesty).

I love working on customization requests. Be it for a hand-made silk scarf that would perfectly fit your dress on your relative’s wedding, or working together on a beautiful gift which would mostly please your friend… or making any of your wildest dreams come true.

In order to be even closer to my customers’ wishes, I constantly look for the best quality silk. Avigael products are made with a large variety of fabrics for a variety of looks and preferences. Silk twill gives a strong aspect and enables the best holding, crepe is used for a romantic touch, chiffon amplifies with lightness and satin silk grants boosting shine.

These stunning scarves can be worn around the neck or tied on the head like a “tichel” or “mitpachat” (“headscarf” respectively in Yiddish and Hebrew) for Jewish women who keep tzniut laws. Scarves can be used in so many ways and I believe each Avigael Woman will know how to best use her creativity to beautify her head, her waist, or even her bag.

For best adherence of your headscarf I strongly advise the wearing of a headband or a velvet hat beneath it.

In order to respond to a growing demand I started designing new silk hand-painted headbands. Easy to put on and stylish, this is the perfect item to boost your look!

By request I am running silk painting workshops to small groups, which have been very successful. People come and create their own scarf, 100% pure silk.

I wish to expand my work and design ready-to-wear head coverings , already knotted and tied.

I live and work in Jerusalem. Please get in touch if you want to come and see the scarves and try them on. I would be glad to help and advise you on picking up the right one for you and on how to wear and tie them.
